With the growth of the Mobile Market, most business owners are faced with some tough choices. Right field can be a lonely place, make sure your mobile strategy keeps you a part of the action.

1. Try to keep up with big business and the money they can spend on mobile development.
2. Try to keep up with the changes themselves and sort through all of the possibilities.
3. Hire a firm to take care of everything.
4. Get behind and lose customers.

Unfortunately many small business owners feel that option #4 is their only real alternative. Let’s face it, the typical small business owner today is already wearing too many hats, adding another is just not an option. Hopefully for those that have already hired a firm for all of their marketing needs, that firm is helping them transition into the mobile future. Often times this comes with a steep price tag, and sometimes with unsubstantiated promises. Keeping up with the money that big business can spend, is just not an option. The small business owner has to remember that they cannot go toe to toe with the big package companies in most industries. Small business owners instead need to work hard to maintain the loyal customer base they have, and they need to make sure they are good at what they offer. The ability to personally meet the needs of customers, will be the deciding factor for the success of most small businesses today. I believe that the growth of the mobile market is actually leveling the playing field quite a bit for the small business owner. Social media and the ability to reach your loyal customer base like never before, gives that small business owner a fighting chance, that was not available before.

It is true, the more money you have to spend, the fancier your marketing can be. Ultimately though, staying in contact with your customer base is the most important thing. While the $50,000 mobile app is impressive and normally very useful, if it does not engage customers, it will not increase revenue. With technology and media, it is becoming more possible every day to interact with customers and do so in an affordable manner. HTML5 coding is allowing designers to create content that is fast, renders well on all devices, and allows for some basic interaction that a static website would not allow. This alone offers an affordable alternative to the expensive custom built mobile app. For a matter of a few dollars a month, any company can get a mobile friendly website developed. One that will make it simple for customers on the go, to be able to reach your business fast.
